Tough Choices

December 14, 2005

“Gary Glenn, president of the American Family Association of Michigan…said he recently shared with his 11-year-old daughter that doll-maker American Girl was financially supporting an organization that promotes abortion on demand and…promotion of the homosexual lifestyle among teenage girls. ‘With no prompting whatsoever, she…put all of her American Girl dolls and clothes into the closet,’ Glenn said. ‘I think that was the act of a pure conscience. When she heard that this corporation was using our family’s money to promote things we don’t believe in, she, in her little way, did what she thought appropriate to take a stand against that. And of course, our family will not be spending any more money with American Girl, and we’ve told them so.'”

Tough Choices

Gary Glenn, president of the American Family Association of Michigan, is a veteran of numerous campaigns on advertisers that support the gay agenda or champion anti-family values.

He said such politically correct incursions have even affected his own family. Glenn said he recently shared with his 11-year-old daughter that doll-maker American Girl was financially supporting an organization that promotes abortion on demand and acceptance and promotion of the homosexual lifestyle among teenage girls.

“With no prompting whatsoever, she went into her room and put all of her American Girl dolls and clothes into the closet,” Glenn said. “I think that was the act of a pure conscience. When she heard that this corporation was using our family’s money to promote things we don’t believe in, she, in her little way, did what she thought appropriate to take a stand against that. And of course, our family will not be spending any more money with American Girl, and we’ve told them so.”

Glenn agreed the American consumer has increasingly difficult choices to make.

“We certainly believe that mom and pop should not have to be supporting groups that promote homosexual behavior and homosexual marriage when they want to buy a new car for the family,” he said, “and yet all three of the major auto companies based in Detroit financially subsidize homosexual activist groups.”

So what’s a consumer to do when all of the corporations that provide the products that we need have decided — out of politically correct sensitivity or perhaps even a darker agenda — to give our money to their pet gay project?

“Each family has to go to prayer,” Glenn said, “and then respond to what they feel led to do by their consciences and by the Lord’s direction as to where they should and should not take a stand.”

Different causes and different offenses by corporations will strike individual families differently, he said.

“We have to leave it up to individual consciences and response that Christian families get to prayer, because I don’t think everybody can keep up with the long and growing list of American corporations that are kowtowing to homosexual activists and their allies in the mass media.”
